The Elemental Estimate is a cost estimate whereby the project is measured and priced according to building elements defined by RICS Building Cost Information Service (Elemental Standard Form of Cost Analysis) or ASAQS Guide to Elemental Estimating. Building elements are sub-divided into components. The rate for each component is a composite rate for multiple items included in that component. As an example, the rate for unreinforced strip footings will include excavation, risk of collapse, backfilling, working space, concrete, blinding, formwork and termite proofing.
